You know I saw this subject and got super excited then sad for no one has replied.  Does anyone ever reply in these forums.  I have posted my issue in several and it gets viewed but no one answers.  I am trying to upload a minisite to my server where my other sites are hosted too and I just cannot get it too work right.  Why are there no videos on how to make a file in your server so that you can add a new site to it without messing up your other sites.  The second issue is how the heck do you upload a image file to the site you just made so the server can find it???

Your question is scary!  If you do not know how to upload files to your web host you will have to back up somewhat and do some homework.

I use FileZilla - it is a free FTP.  Just go on Google and search for FileZilla.  Then download it into your programs.  Run the download.  Go to your Start Menu in windows and look for the link for FileZilla which is probably at the end of the list.

Click on that link and the program will open up.  Complete the registration details.  If you need help call your web host provide for the details you will need to get  from them.

Once you have entered in your connection details to your website in FileZilla go the to first window on the left of the FZ program.  Locate your website file - usually My Webs if you use Windows.  Click on your website.

All the files from your website should open in the window directly under the first one.

For the first upload click all the files indicated in the bottom left window.

Right click for upload.

Now you are done.

Check your website in your browser window to make sure the upload was complete.

Hope this helps you.

Kimv, you said you have other sites on your host. Did you upload them there yourself?
I'm not sure exactly what you do with these,as I am still a newbie at many skills, but there are sub domains and add ons. :-\
A sub domain would be another part of the site already there,  and an add on would be where you have pointed a new domain name to another site on your host. Wouldn't you have to set either one of these up at your host, before you uploaded anything? I am actually  in a position where I really need to know exactly how each of these add ons and sub domains work too. I think your host would have a brief tutorial there about setting up either one. In the cPanel. I have not gone there as yet. And about your image file, I suppose you would upload it to your public_html file on your server. There are a lot of free videos around explaining the basic steps you need to know, from step one onwards.

Darlene (disberg) briefly explained the easiest way to get files onto your server.

If you are still not sure how to do it simply do a You Tube search for - uploading files with filezilla - or something similar, there are many excellent tutorials on You Tube that can help you.

When I need more detailed information and support that is easy to understand I always refer to the training provided by Chris Farrell at:  http://bz9.com/chrisfarrell (http://bz9.com/chrisfarrell)
Try this. No Really Try It, I bet I can READ YOUR MIND!

Some points to remember when uploading "copied" websites...

What I mean by "copied" is when you are viewing a site and do a "select all" then "copy" - you may get the website copied or... you may only get css code that doesn't work for YOU because of the linking in the css code. Besides, in most instances it is against Copy-write Laws to just copy someone's site.

If you have legal copy privileges then the "source" html should be available to you. THAT is the code you need to copy... and save to NotePad (or the equivalent on a Mac) first, then from Notepad to you html editor such as FrontPage, Dreamwaever, or Komposer. NOTE: Have you editor in the "html" view when you paste.

Then preview the page. If it looks OK you should be good to upload to your server... assuming you changed the appropriate links to yours on that page.

Next thing to think about is WHERE you want to post that page. You can have ONLY ONE "index.htm" or "index.html" page in a directory or sub-directory. For example, if your new page was about Dog Training and your web site is ILoveFurryPets.com (my apologies if that is an actual website) then you would have to name the new page something other than "index.???" such as dogtaraining.html OR create a sub-directory (easy to do in Filezilla)  called Dog Training and upload the file to THAT directory and rename it to index.html.

Some sites include code that may not be compatible with your hosting service... it's rare but does happen.

Hope this was of some help.
